Mid Am Coaching Program Update

To: All Mid-Am Coaches

From: Bill Switaj, Mid Am Coach-in-Chief

Subject: Mid Am Coaching Program Update

Date: December 12, 2017

With the December 31st coaching deadline fast approaching, the following is a brief update on the Level 4 Clinic in December, final Level 1-3 Coaching Clinics and Temporary Cards.

Level 4 Coaching Clinic December 30 & 31 in Cleveland: So far this clinic season we have had a Level 4 clinic in Pittsburgh, PA and Columbus, OH. On December 30th and 31st we will be having our final Level 4 clinic of the season at the Cleveland Airport Marriott. The clinic will start at 10:00am on December 30th and will finish at 3pm on December 31st. To register go to www.usahockey.com under the coaches section.

Level 1, 2 and 3 Coaching Clinics: This past year we have put on 51 coaching clinics throughout the Mid Am District. However, there are still some coaches who have not been able to attend one. On Saturday December 30th we will be having a Level 3 clinic at the Cleveland Airport Marriott. On Sunday December 31st we will have a Level 1 and 2 at the same location. The clinic on December 31st (Level 1 and 2) will start at 8:00am and finish no later than 3:00pm.

Temporary Cards: For coaches who have not been able to attend a clinic this year, you have the option of being issued a Temporary Card for a fee of $50. This will allow you to keep coaching this year (as long as you completed the online module). Keep in mind, you can only do this once in your coaching career. After you use the Temporary Card, you can no longer get a Temporary card again (in future years). To receive the Temporary Card application, you need to email Bill Switaj at

CHH Announcement

Message from Columbus House Hockey

We have had some changes to the Columbus House Hockey season.  You may notice that there were some adjustments that may have been made to your schedule on December 23rd.   One of our local associations decided they did not want to participate in games on that day and elected to forfeit those games and return their home ice.

Unfortunately, that left several teams with no opponents and still others with no ice and no opponent.  Adjustments were made to fulfill a teams schedule as best as we could.

You will now see an updated schedule by looking at your teams schedule.  Some games did remain at the same time and location, however, a number of games were shifted.  We now have a couple games on Friday the 22nd.  Please make a note of your game for that weekend.

We apologize for the disruption to the schedule and hope that you will be able to make adjustments to your personal schedules with the notice we are trying to provide.

Baseline Concussion Tests

Baseline Concussion Tests

Should your player sustain a head injury, a baseline test is used as a resource to return the concussed brain back to the baseline state.

If you are interested in having your player take a concussion baseline test, you may schedule your player during an open session by contacting Casie at the number below.

Casie Elander MEd. AT

Concussion Testing Coordinator at OhioHealth Sports Medicine

Cell: 614-620-8939

614-566-GAME (4263)

Participants must be at least 10 years of age and the test results are good for two years.  There is no fee for the test, but it does last approximately one hour and takes place in a group setting so it is important that athletes are on time.

The testing typically takes place at Westerville Central, which is located at 7118 Mt Royal Ave.  Westerville Ohio, 43082.   Upon scheduling a time, Casie will send you detailed information and the required forms.

CCYHA and BW3 DUBLIN Fund Raising Partnership

Dublin Buffalo Wild Wings location has offered CCYHA an opportunity to earn funds each time our families dine in or do take outs at their restaurant on 6595 Perimeter Dr., Dublin (Avery Square Shopping Center).

Here is How the Program Works:

1. Bring your Teammate Card into your sponsoring restaurant, during the entire season, April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018. Details are on your card.

2. Show your card, on a mobile device or via printed copy, to your server and let them know you are part of the CCYHA Home Team Advantage Program.

3. The server will add 10% of your total sales to your team’s running total. It’s that easy!

4.  Applicable to dine in and for all take outs.

5. At the end of the season, Buffalo Wild Wings will donate the 10% of sales that CCYHA generated throughout the season back to our organization.

6. Please pass this information to all your friends and families and don’t forget to mention CCYHA every time you eat at BW-3 in Dublin.

Buffalo Wild Wings believes that teamwork builds the foundation for a successful community and our goal is to help make your community the best place to live, work, play and dine. We want to help keep our community working and playing together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Your kids are on a team, team practices are starting, games will be on weekends and it's snowing outside (well not yet but soon)!!!  You don't want to miss a single moment.  Here are a few tips that make sure you don't miss a moment of CCYHA Hockey!!!

How do I update my player's contact information so that my husband/wife also gets the schedule reminders, emails from coaches, and emails from the League?

Go to the CCYHA home page and click on "Edit My Account" (last item on left hand menu).  Enter your email address and password (the one you used to register your child).  Select the individual you need to edit.  Edit the profile as needed.  Select if you want email reminder for games and practices.

If you need to add more one than email address, separate each email address with a semi-colon (;).

You can also watch a video on how to do this by clicking here.

My spouse is not a CCYHA member and thus cannot log into our account?

Go to the CCYHA home page and click on "Register Online" (on left hand menu).  Select any open program (it doesn't matter which one).  Hit "Continue".  Hit "Create Account." Enter your email address.  You will receive an email to establish a password for that email.  Once you have created a password, log back in with your email and new password.  Complete the member information.

Upon completion, please email the webmaster at ccyharossman@gmail.com.  The profile will need to be linked to the player(s).  Please let the webmaster know which player(s) to link to the parent.

I would like to download/create a subscription to my kid's schedule to my Google/ical calendar?

There are a couple methods but here are a couple.

(1) If on an Apple device, go to www.ccyha.org.  If in the mobile version go to TEAMS -> SELECT a Team -> SCHEDULE (from the Teams Menu).  You will see the schedule for the team.  In the upper right, hit the triangle next to OPTION and select Calendar Feed.  Then select type of service/calendar program and follow directions.

(2) If you have to follow an ADM group for practice and your team (i.e. 6U, 8U, 10U, and 12U) Go to ALL Team Pages on the top menu of the CCYHA website.

  • Select Multi-Schedule.

  • Select LIST for the Schedule type you wish to generate.

  • Check the team(s) you wish to generate a calendar for (if your player is a is participating in an ADM group - e.g. Mite, you will need to select BOTH your team and your ADM group - this should be everyone except Bantam).

  • Click on Submit at the bottom of the screen.  You will see the calendar.

  • On the right, hit the triangle next to OPTION and select Calendar Feed.  Then select type of service/calendar program and follow directions.

If you create an ical feed/subscription (for your ipad, iphone, etc), the calendar should automatically update as changes are made to the CCYHA calendar based upon how your device fetches data.

You can also watch a video on how to do this by clicking here.

Reminder: Time to Re-enroll Your Kroger Community Rewards!

Are you Kroger Shopper???  Please Re-enroll your card!!!!

Please help CCYHA House Hockey earn funds for house clinics, equipment and jerseys, and other CCYHA House Hockey sponsored events by registering your Kroger Plus Card today. Even if you have contributed to us in the past, you need to re-enroll your card every year.  The new year begins on May 1st but you can sign up now!!!!

The Kroger Community Rewards Program is an easy way to accumulate funds for CCYHA House Hockey with your everyday shopping.  The program awards cash based on the quarterly spending of registered organizations like CCYHA.  Kroger awards up to $1,250,000 per quarter split among participating organizations.  CCYHA's earnings are based on the percentage that CCYHA House Hockey families in comparison to other groups participating in the program spend.  CCYHA receives a reward check each quarter based on this percentage.

Participation in the program does not cost the CCYHA family anything and does not affect any of the family's shopping rewards (e.g. coupon savings, gas savings, etc.)

We just ask that you take a few minutes to register your Kroger Plus Card so that CCYHA can benefit from your purchases.  If you already have a Kroger Plus Card, please log on to www.krogercommunityrewards.com.
