High School Hockey

The Columbus Chill Hockey Club (CCHC) is a program for high school aged players.  CCHC allows players who want to compete at a high level while still being eligible to participate in their high school hockey season (a.k.a. Pre/Post or Split season hockey).

Players participate in high paced, fun practices with an emphasis on skill development and competition.  The program is run by RJ Umberger and Dave Caruso with additional support provided by CCYHA and other local organizations.

Current programs include:

  • Spring Development Program: Players practice and play in small area games battling for points in placement in the I270 Cup Tournament at the end of the session.
  • Fall Split season before high school hockey begins.  Players have off-ice conditioning and on-ice practice sessions in addition to 2-3 tournaments in preparation for tryouts.

OHSAA schools in Central Ohio are part of the Capital Conference Hockey (CHC) League. The conference is comprised of 16 Columbus area schools, Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller, Dayton Springboro and Cincinnati St. Xavier. Schools are divided into three conferences (Red, White and Blue) based upon size and success.  Divisions are reshuffled based upon year-end results.
